Mike Shellans has remained one of the most popular music professors at Arizona State University since beginning his teaching career there in 1983. A trombonist for several decades, Mike now focuses primarily on keyboards, composition and arranging. His piano style - fast, fluid and always inventive - is based in Bebop but is heavily influenced by his ear for modern, sophisticated harmonies. Although Jazz will always be his first love, Mike has become an avid Bluegrass fan in recent years, he is a collector of stringed instruments, and he is considered an expert on the music of the Beatles and Elvis Presley.
