How to cook:

  2. Using string tie up your chicken legs to secure them in place.
  3. Place
  4. Grab your rod and place it through the neck of the chicken and push it through until it comes out at the bum end. Then screw in the clamps at each end.

How to cook:
  1. Remove the chicken from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to allow it to warm up to room temperature. Press the rotisserie function on your air fryer and allow it to preheat.
  2. Remove the giblets from inside the cavity and remove any excess fat, skin and leftover feathers. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
  3. Add the olive oil, juice from 1/4 of the lemon, spices and herbs to a small bowl. Season the chicken with the spices all over, under the skin and inside the cavity. Add some lemon wedges inside the cavity.
  4. Next, tie up the chicken with kitchen twine. Skewer the chicken firmly onto the spit of the skewer of your air fryer.
  5. Cook for 50-60 minutes until the temperature of the chicken breast reaches 165 degrees F.

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons dried herbs ((Italian style mixed herbs or one or more of: basil, oregano, parsley))

How to cook:
  1. Whisk rub ingredients together.
  2. Whisk all the rub ingredients together in a small jug or bowl.
  3. Pre-heat air fryer
  4. Pre-heat the air fryer to 355F/180C for 3 minutes.
  5. Baste chicken with olive oil rub.
  6. Place the chicken on a large plate and 'paint' all over with around ⅔ of the olive oil rub (You can do this after placing the chicken in the air fryer if preferred). If using a lemon in the rub, stuff the remainder of it inside the chicken.
  7. Place chicken in air fryer breast side up and cook for 30 minutes.
  8. Place the chicken in the preheated air fryer basket breast side up (with the legs and wings tucked under). Cook for 30 minutes (or 20 minutes if your chicken is a smaller one).
  9. Turn chicken over and paint with rest of rub.
  10. Use large tongs to turn the chicken over so that it's breast side down (with the legs now pointing up). Paint with the remainder of the spice rub.
  11. Cook for a further 25 minutes, then check it's cooked with a meat thermometer.
  12. Cook for a further 25 minutes (for a 4.5 pound/2 kilo chicken) or until the internal temperature reaches at least 165F/74C in the thickest part of the breast (use a meat thermometer to check). Reduce the time for smaller chickens (see notes).
  13. Let rest.
  14. Let the chicken rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

  10. Insert the Air Fryer rotisserie rod through the legs where they are tied together and through the chicken's cavity, exiting at the neck and centering the bird on the spit.

  14. Preheat the air fryer for 15 minutes on the air fryer setting. Once preheated, turn the wheel to adjust the time to 45 minutes at 400 degrees. Press the start button and cook for 45 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F and the meat is no longer pink.
