Can you air fry rotisserie chicken? Yes! If you have an air fryer with a spit, you can make your own air fryer rotisserie chicken at home.

Ingredients:
  • 1 whole broiler, roaster, or fryer chicken ((3-5 pounds; 1.36-2.27 kg))
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups roasted corn, frozen ((I used Trader Joe's brand))
  • 12 ounces asparagus, frozen ((340 grams; I used Trader Joe's frozen grilled asparagus))
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 9 ounces fresh broccoli, chopped ((255 grams))
  • 25 ounces sweet potatoes, chopped ((709 grams; peeling not necessary if they are scrubbed well))
  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil
  • ¼ cup pesto
  • salt and pepper, to taste

How to cook:
  1. Remove the giblets from your chicken and reserve to use in another recipe. I like to use the giblets to make bone broth.
  2. Truss
  3. Thread the chicken on the air fryer spit. Truss your chicken with baking twine so that the chicken does not break a leg. (Watch the video below to learn how to truss a chicken!)
  4. Brush the outside of the chicken with the avocado oil and sprinkle the chicken with salt and pepper.
  5. Attach the spit to your air fryer. Make sure the drip tray is in place in your air fryer oven.
  6. Break
  7. The chicken should not make contact with the heating element while it turns. If it does, you may have to break the back of your chicken to help it to fit.
  8. Cook at 350°F (175°C) for one hour. Don't forget to press the "Rotate" button (i.e., the button that makes the spit turn) on your fryer!
  9. Rest
  10. When it is done cooking, remove the chicken from the fryer and let it rest for 10 minutes while you prepare the side dishes.
  11. To make the option one side dishes:
  12. Microwave
  13. Heat the frozen corn and asparagus according to package directions. I microwaved each for 2-3 minutes each, stirring and microwaving for 2-3 more minutes if not fully heated through. Steaming works for cooking the veggies as well!
  14. Plate ¼ of the corn and put ½ T of butter on top. Slice 4 ounces (113 grams) of the chicken and add it to your plate. Put ¼ of the asparagus on the side. Get ready for some deliciousness!
  15. To make the option two side dishes:
  16. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Put the broccoli and sweet potatoes in a large metal roasting pan. Drizzle with the oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  17. Roast the veggies for one hour, flipping and stirring halfway through cooking time.
  18. Stir the pesto into the sweet potatoes when they come out of the oven.
  19. Serve
  20. To serve, plate ¼ of the broccoli and ¼ of the sweet potatoes. Slice 4 ounces (113 grams) of the chicken and add it to your plate. Yummy!

  • 1 5 pound Whole chicken, giblets removed
  • 2 Tablespoons avocado oil (Click here for my favorite brand on Amazon)
  • 1 Tablespoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika (I prefer smoked paprika)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried oregano

How to cook:
  1. Combine all of the seasonings with the oil to make a paste and spread it all over the chicken.

How to cook:
  1. How to Air Fryer rotisserie chicken
  2. Trimming the chicken fat. Trim the excess chicken fat or skin that is close to the cavity hanging in between the chicken legs. Most of the whole chicken has excess fat and you don’t want too much oil fat in the drippings that will be added to the gravy later.
  3. Pat dry the chicken with a paper towel for crisp skin results. Drizzle the olive oil and rub it on the chicken, then the seasoning salt. Make sure to season the inside of the chicken as well.
  4. How to truss a chicken
  5. Position the chicken breast side-up with the legs facing you.
  6. Place the middle of the twine under the chicken ankles, then up criss-cross on top of the ankles.
  7. Rotate the chicken with the neck facing you. Bring the string up to the side of the legs by pulling towards the chicken wings and tuck those in, then tie it up on top of the chicken neck. Make sure it is tight, then tie twice to secure the cooking twine.
  8. How to attach the chicken to the spit rod of the air fryer.
  9. Unscrew and remove one meat fork on the spit rod. Insert the rod from the cavity up to the neck of the chicken.
  10. Make sure the chicken is on the middle of the spit rod. Unscrew to loosen and adjust the meat fork.
  11. By squeezing the chicken legs, attach the first meat fork, pressing firmly in the chicken thighs.
  12. Attach the second meat fork in between the neck of the chicken or shoulders. Press it firmly and make sure it's tight enough and will not loosen when the chicken rotate. Otherwise, reinserted the meat fork or secure with cooking twine.
  13. Place the spit rod with chicken in the air fryer and make sure to place a drip tray. If the chicken is too big and it will not rotate with the drip tray, use aluminum foil and fold the 4 sides to replace the drip tray.
  14. Air fry the rotisserie chicken.
  15. Cook the chicken weighs 3 to 3.5 lbs at 400°F for one hour or until the chicken thigh internal temperature reaches 180°F.
  16. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it stand for 10 minutes.
  17. While the chicken is resting make the gravy and add the chicken drippings.
  18. Slice the chicken and serve with the gravy.

How to cook:
  1. Pre-heat Air Fryer to 375 degrees.
  2. Rinse and remove giblets from the chicken.

  9. Place on the rotisserie spit.
  10. Put in the air fryer and make sure you select "rotate" on the options.
  11. Cook on the roast function for 60 minutes.
  12. Check the temperature of the chicken it should be 165 degrees.
  13. Remove lemon, garlic, and rosemary from the center of the chicken and serve.
