  • 3 pounds Apples (- see post for details, peeled and quartered. See recommended varieties above.)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tsp Lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp Splenda
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon

How to cook:
  1. In a large saucepan over medium to high heat, combine the apples, water, and lemon juice . Bring the mixture to a boil and then set the heat to low and cover with a lid to simmer. It should take about 10-15 minutes for your apples to become soft.
  2. Once your apples are soft you can remove the applesauce from the heat. Stir in the remaining ingredients adding additional as needed. Tip: If your apple sauce is too chunky for your tastes, you can puree it through a food processor or strong blender (may have to do batches). Another option is to use a potato masher to mash it down.
  3. Store your applesauce in a closed container, such as a canning jar , for up to a week in the refrigerator.

Ingredients:
  • 5 cups chopped apples (I used Macintosh and Honeycrisp), peeled
  • 1 12 ounce bag frozen cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
How to cook:
  1. Add apples, cranberries, cinnamon, cinnamon stick, orange juice and ¼ cup water to a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to simmer as the apples break down and the cranberries pop.
  2. Add maple syrup, if sweeter sauce is desired. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Apples will break down and you’ll be able to mash them with a spoon.
  3. Allow to cool before serving. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
  • 4 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and quartered
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 lemon Juice of one lemon
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp vanilla bean powder (liquid vanilla works too)
  • 1 cup chopped plums, washed, pitted (added to basic applesauce)
  • 1 tbsp allspice (instead of cinnamon)
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries (added to basic applesauce )
  • 2-4 star of anise (instead of cinnamon)
  • 2 cups chopped pears, washed, peeled (added to basic applesauce)
  • 1 tbsp ginger (instead of cinnamon)
How to cook:
  1. Place all ingredients in the slow cooker and give it a good stir.
  2. Turn the slow cooker to high for 4 hours or low and slow for 6-8 hours. You will want to stir the apple’s every 2 hours based on the cooking method you use.
  3. If you like it a little chunky you can be done here. If you want that smooth store bought texture, uses a hand-immersion blender or let is cool slightly and transfer to a blender and process until the sauce is smooth.
