The stir fry sauce is simple, made with just 5 pantry staples: soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic powder, toasted sesame oil, and cornstarch (optional). It's low carb too - all you need is ground turkey, bell peppers, carrots and coleslaw mix.

ASIAN GROUND TURKEY STIR-FRY

Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground turkey or ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions or finely chopped yellow onions
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons sweet red chili sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger root or ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 10 oz bag frozen cut green beans, steamed in the microwave
  • Green onions to garnish
How to cook:
  1. Pre-measure the sweet red chili sauce, hoisin sauce and soy sauce and add to a bowl. Stir together and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat sesame oil on medium heat and saute the chopped green or yellow onions for 1 minute. Add the minced garlic and saute for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Add the ground turkey or ground chicken to the skillet and cook until no longer pink. While your ground turkey is cooking, go ahead and steam your green beans and set them to the side.
  4. Next add your sweet red chili, hoisin and soy sauce mixture to the skillet. Stir until well incorporated. Then add ginger and rice vinegar. Stir well.
  5. Add the steamed green beans to the skillet with the rest of the ingredients. Stir well.
  6. Cook on low heat for an additional 2-3 minutes then remove from heat.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions. Serve with cooked white or brown rice and enjoy!

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets, diced small
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Ground black pepper, to taste

How to cook:
  1. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a large skillet or cast-iron pan. Do not use a nonstick skillet for this. Add the ground turkey and brown it for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it up with a spatula or wooden spoon as you cook. When it is ready, move the cooked turkey to a plate and set aside while you sauté the vegetables.
  2. Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the pan along with the diced onion. Sauté on medium-high heat, stirring often, for about 1 minute. Add the broccoli florets and the diced red bell pepper. Continue to cook, stirring, for 3 or 4 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.
  3. Add the finely minced garlic and continue sautéing for an additional minute. Then return the browned ground turkey to the pan.
  4. Add in the soy sauce and continue cooking and stirring for another couple of minutes, until the turkey has heated through and all the vegetables are combined. Season with pepper and top with the scallions. Serve over cooked brown rice.

How to cook:
  1. Mix ingredients for the sauce together.
  2. Heat oil over med-high heat then add onions, sauteing for 2 minutes until softened. Add ground turkey, breaking up with a wooden spoon. Add a pinch of salt to season the meat, then saute until lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add carrot, bell pepper and cabbage, sauteeing for 2-3 minutes until softened. Add sauce then cook another 2-3 minutes until well combined and sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in green onions. Serve and enjoy!
  4. Storing and reheating: Leftovers will last up to 5 days in the fridge. Store individual portions in glass bowls and reheat for 2-3 minutes in the microwave, or saute on the stovetop for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
