  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil ((or your preferred cooking oil))
  • 3 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 lb. fresh green beans, (edges trimmed)
  • 2 garlic cloves, (minced)

How to cook:
  1. Pre-heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat for 2 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, add the oil, soy sauce, and sugar. Stir to combine.
  3. Add the green beans to the skillet. Then, carefully add the soy sauce mixture to the hot skillet (liquid may spatter a bit). Stir to coat the beans in sauce. Cook for about 6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir the garlic into the green beans. Cook for 1 minute, stirring often. Then, remove the skillet from the heat.

  • 2 medium Onion (Thinly sliced)

How to cook:
  1. Clean and trim the green beans. Add to a pot of seasoned boiling water. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Then drain and put it in ice water to stop the cooking process.
  2. In a pan heat oil. Once hot, add thinly sliced onion. Cook on low-medium heat until the onion has softened and start browning. It will take around 5-6 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute until it is aromatic.
  4. Add in green beans to the pan. Cook the green beans, tossing occasionally, until soft and starting to blister and brown spots start to appear. For about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add soy sauce, pepper to the pan, toss and cook for another 1 minute. Check slat and add more if required.

  1. PREPARE COATING/SAUCE: Combine all ingredients in small bowl and set aside.
  2. DRY-FRY BEANS: Heat oil in a wok or skillet to medium heat. Add green beans to the hot wok and sauté for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Increase heat to medium-high heat. Continue to sauté, stirring for 4 minutes until beans are tender crisp and charred a bit. If you like them more charred, reverse the times and cook 4 minutes on medium heat and 6 minutes on medium-high heat.
  3. FINISH BEANS: Pour sauce into skillet. Stir to coat beans evenly. Sauté 1 minute more. Transfer sautéed green beans to serving platter. Top with toasted sesame seeds if desired.
