- Mix together the onion powder, garlic powder, and salt; sprinkle evenly over each piece of chicken until fully coated.
- Lay the chicken tenders out onto a tray or plate and brush with the BBQ sauce all over.
- Place the crushed potato chips into a shallow bowl; working in batches, coat the tenders in the crumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- If your air fryer requires preheating, do that now. Set to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes.
- Spray the basket with cooking spray and place as many tenders that will comfortably fit without touching. Spray the tops of the chicken with cooking spray.
- Air fry for 8-9 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, carefully flipping halfway through and coating with additional spray. Repeat with remaining chicken.
- Serve with more BBQ sauce or some of the dipping sauces I suggest in the article. Enjoy!
- NOTE: This recipe was made and tested using a small Phillips model Air Fryer. If you own a different model air fryer, I would suggest doing a test run with just a couple tenders and then adjust the time/temp, if necessary. Air fryers are all similar, but just like ovens, cooking times can vary.

- Using a food processor, pulse the potato chips into coarse crumbs. Alternatively, place chips in a zip lock bag, pushing out as much air as possible, and roll a rolling pin over the bag to crush the chips. Place the crushed chips in a bowl or shallow dish. You should have about 2 cups of crushed chips.
- Whisk the eggs and milk together in a small bowl.
- Cut the chicken into 1- to 2-inch pieces and place them in a zip lock bag (you can use the same one used to crush the chips).
- Combine the flour, paprika, salt and black pepper and add the flour mixture to the bag with the chicken pieces. Seal the bag and gently shake to coat all the chicken pieces with flour.
- Working with a few pieces at a time, shake off any excess flour, dip the floured chicken into the egg mixture and then coat each piece with the crushed potato chips.
- Pre-heat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Air-fry the chicken in batches to avoid over-crowding. Place a single layer of the coated chicken in the air fryer basket or tray. Spritz with a little oil and air-fry for 6 minutes. Turn the chicken over and air-fry for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, until the chicken is crispy and cooked through. After the last batch has finished cooking, return all the chicken to the air fry for 1 minute to make sure they are all warm for serving.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Barbeque chicken is now easy to make indoors and all year round when you use an air fryer. Coat chicken pieces with paprika, garlic powder, and salt and cook in the air fryer, then slather in barbeque sauce and cook for a few minutes more to produce a barbeque chicken that tastes like you cooked it on the grill. Ingredients:
- 1 whole (3 pound) chicken, cut into thigh, leg, and breast pieces
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
How to cook:
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Coat chicken pieces in salt, paprika, and garlic powder and place skin-side down in air fryer basket. Cook chicken in the air fryer until golden brown, about 18 minutes. Transfer chicken to a plate and brush all over with BBQ sauce. Wipe chicken fat out of air fryer basket to prevent excess smoking. Return chicken to air fryer basket, skin-side up, and cook at 350°F (180°C) until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of a thigh reads 165°F (75°C), about 3 minutes. Serve immediately with additional BBQ sauce.
