  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1½ cups root beer ((NOT diet))
  • 1½ cups bbq sauce

How to cook:
  1. Spray the insert of the slow cooker and place chicken breasts inside.
  2. In a small bowl whisk together garlic powder, onion powder, salt, root beer, and bbq sauce until combined. Pour over the chicken. Cover with the lid and cook on LOW heat for 8 hours.
  3. When cook time is done, shred chicken with two forks and let it stay in the slow cooker (in the juices to stay moist) until ready to serve.
  4. * This chicken does really on the warm setting too so if you're not eating right away just change the setting to warm and it will be ready when you are.
  5. Serve shredded chicken, with a slotted spoon or tongs, on buns or rolls.

How to cook:

How to cook:
  1. Pulled Chicken
  2. Preheat grill.
  3. Heat grill to 400°F.
  4. Prepare rub.
  5. Combine the ingredients for the rub in a small bowl and set aside.
  6. Season chicken.
  7. Drizzle chicken with olive oil and generously season both sides with the rub. Chill until ready to grill or make immediately.
  8. Cook chicken.
  9. Place chicken on the prepared grill and grill over direct heat until cooked through, flipping once or twice. Keep the lid closed while grilling. Juices should run clear when done.
  10. Shred chicken.
  11. Let chicken cool for a few minutes and then shred the chicken.

  13. Sauté onion.
  14. Meanwhile, or even before cooking the chicken, prepare the barbecue sauce. Heat olive oil in a 3 quart saucepan over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook, stirring frequently, until soft and translucent.
  15. Add seasonings.
  16. Stir in chili powder, garlic powder and cayenne pepper.
  17. Add remaining ingredients.
  18. Pour in root beer and stir to combine.Stir in ketchup, lemon juice and molasses.
  19. Simmer sauce.
  20. Bring sauce to a boil over medium-high heat and then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
  21. Combine sauce and chicken.
  22. Add the pulled chicken to the barbecue sauce and stir to combine.
  23. Assemble sandwiches.
  24. Top toasted buns with chicken mixture and coleslaw if you like.
