Prep time: 30 minutes
Yields: 320 servings
Cuisine: American
Number of ingredients: 6
Ingredients:
  • 1 bar Zote Laundry Bar Soap (14.1 oz Pink or White)
  • 2 bars Fels Naptha Laundry Bar Soap (5 oz each)
  • 1 box (65 oz Borax detergent booster)
  • 1 box (55 oz Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda)
  • 4 cups baking soda
  • 1 bottle (13.2 oz Downy Unstopables (Fresh Scent) (can add more if desired))
How to cook:
  1. Cut the bars of soap into pieces and place on a large plate.
  2. Microwave in 1 minute intervals until soap is poofy. (The soap really puffs up and spreads out so you'll probably want to do this is parts and not all at the same time.)
  3. Remove from microwave and let the soap cool off completely.
  4. Place the cooled soap into a blender and blend until powdery. (Do this is parts and not at the same time. Soap MUST be cooled completely before blending or it will be gummy)
  5. Pour blended soap into a large container.
  6. Add in borax, washing soda, baking soda and Unstopables.
  7. Mix until all ingredients are well combined. (I just use my hands for this to get it really mixed up)
  8. Store in a cool, dry place.
  9. To use, add 1-2 tablespoons per load into your washer drum or detergent tray.

Laundry Soap Inexpensive

Laundry Soap Inexpensive
An inexpensive laundry soap that works well. Zote is only 99 cents for 14 oz at my Walmart so its a really cheap recipe for me. They do not sell washing soda so I bought Ph+ for pools, which is 100% sodium carbonate the same as washing soda. Baking soda is not the same.

It cost me $14.72 to begin with [including 5 bars of Zote]. Because of the amount that each ingredient is sold in, I can make atleast 32 gallons of laundry soap which means 2048 loads of laundry for $14.72. Thats about 4 years worth for my family of 5 people.
