Our Air Fryer Whole Chicken is a great way to make a rotisserie style chicken at home. Perfectly seasoned, this chicken turns out tender and juicy every time. We enjoy using this recipe with both our traditional air fryer and using the air crisp feature with our Ninja Foodi.

Ingredients:
  • 5 lb whole chicken
  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 teaspoon Soy Sauce
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1.5 tablespoon minced garlic

How to cook:
  1. Mix together all ingredients except the chicken in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Place bird breast side up in air fryer basket (or Ninja Foodi air crisp basket or metal rack on lowest setting).
  3. Gently separate skin from chicken to slather some of the mixture under the skin and then coat the outside of the bird with the mixture.
  4. Flip the bird breast side down and repeat the application of the mixture.
  5. Set the air fryer to 360 (or air crisp feature on the Foodi) and cook for 30 minutes.
  6. Flip the bird and cook for an additional 30 minutes (less for smaller birds/more for larger birds) or until a meat thermometer reaches a minimum of 165 in the meatiest part of the chicken.
  7. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before cutting up to serve.

Ingredients:
  • 4-5 lb whole chicken ((1.8-2.3 kg))
  • 1 fresh rosemary sprig
  • 1 fresh parsley sprig
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small shallot, quartered
  • ½ lemon rind
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • ½ tablespoons butter
  • ½ lemon, juiced

How to cook:
  1. Dry
  2. Remove the giblets from the chicken and pat it dry on both sides with paper towels. Juice half a lemon. Set the juice and rind aside.
  3. Chop
  4. Strip the leaves from the rosemary and parsley sprigs. Set the stems aside and chop the leaves finely. (Save the leaves to use in gravy, see recipe notes below.)
  5. Rub chicken
  6. Rub the chicken all over with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Put the lemon rind, rosemary and parsley stems, and a quartered shallot in the cavity.
  7. Place lid
  8. Place the chicken (breast side down) in the Ninja Foodi air fryer basket, which is set inside the ceramic pot. Put the air fryer tendercrisp lid on the Foodi.
  9. Air fry the chicken for 30 minutes at 350°F (177°C). . While the chicken roasts, combine the cider, butter, and lemon juice in a pan on the stovetop. Let it reduce for 30 minutes over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
  10. Flip
  11. After the chicken has air fried for 30 minutes, flip it and place it back in the Foodi. To flip the chicken, I carefully dumped it onto a plate, and then put it back in the Foodi with tongs. Close the lid and air fry an additional 20 minutes.
  12. Brush
  13. After the time is up, brush the top of the chicken with half of the cider reduction. Air fry 5 minutes. Then brush with the rest of the cider reduction and air fry an additional 5 minutes.
  14. Check the internal temperature of the chicken by sticking an instant read meat thermometer between the thigh and body of the chicken. The safe minimum internal temp for chicken is 165°F (74°C). Add additional air frying time as needed.
  15. Rest
  16. Remove the chicken from the Ninja Foodi and tent it in foil. Let it rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving. You can make gravy (if you wish) while it rests.

  • 1 teaspoon fine grind sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

How to cook:
  1. Make sure your chicken is completely thawed and I recommend seasoning it 8-24 hours in advance. To season the chicken, blot dry with paper towels and lightly spritz the chicken with oil. Sprinkle the seasoning blend on the underside of the chicken first and then place it on the rack that you are going to cook it on. Season the top of the chicken. Refrigerate on the rack (I put a tray or plate under it) until 90 minutes before you want to cook your chicken.
  2. Remove the chicken 90 minutes before cooking and allow to come to room temp. If you have not seasoned your chicken yet, do that now.
  3. Add 1 cup of chicken broth to the inner pot and place the rack with the chicken into the inner pot. Put the pressure lid on and make sure the valve is to the vent position. Select the steam function and set the time for 6 minutes. When the time is up, remove the pressure lid and close the crisping lid. You do not need to remove the liquid.
  4. Select the air crisp function and the temperature of 375℉/190℃ for 60 minutes. Do not open the lid for at least 30 minutes. Begin checking the temperature after 40 minutes and at least every 5-10 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 165℉/74℃. It may not take the entire 60 minutes, so make sure to use a thermometer so you don't overcook your chicken. Allow the chicken to rest for a full 10 minutes before carving. Enjoy!

How to cook:
  1. Remove your whole chicken from its packaging and tie up the chicken legs.
  2. Place the chicken breast side down and add half the oil and using your hands smoother it over the visible skin. Season it with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Place in the air fryer basket, with the breast side down and air fry for 25 minutes at 180c/360f. Do not preheat the air fryer as it will cook the outside of the chicken too quick.
  4. If making stuffing balls make them whilst the chicken is cooking.
  5. When the air fryer beeps, use a fork, and place the fork into the cavity of the chicken and use this to turn the chicken over to breast side up.
  6. Now add the remaining oil onto any visible skin and season again.
  7. Air fry for a further 20 minutes. If adding stuffing balls air fry them, with the whole chicken in the gaps for the last 10 minutes.
  8. Allow to rest before serving your chicken.
