  • 1-1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce
  • 1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 6 hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

How to cook:
  1. In a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink, 3-5 minutes, breaking into crumbles. Drain. Stir in the pizza sauce, mushrooms, sugar and oregano; mix well. Spoon onto buns; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  2. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Broil 4 in. from the heat until cheese is melted, 2 minutes.
  3. Freeze option: Place the split and toasted buns on a baking sheet. Spoon the meat mixture onto buns; freeze for 1 hour. Transfer to freezer-safe airtight containers.

How to cook:
  1. Step 1
  2. Arrange a rack 6 inches below the broiling element and heat the oven to 350ºF. Meanwhile, dice 1 small yellow onion.

  4. Split 4 English muffins in half. Place cut-side up on a rimmed baking sheet. Toast in the oven until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Set aside and set the oven to broil.

  6. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add 1 pound lean ground beef and 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat into smaller pieces with a wooden spoon, until browned, beginning to crisp, and cooked through, 5 to 7 minutes.

How to cook:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat.
  2. Brown ground beef together with onion, garlic and onion powders. Salt & pepper to taste.
  3. Cut English muffins in half horizontally, and place them inside up on a cookie sheet.
  4. Pre-bake muffins for 5 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, remove ground beef from heat and stir cheese, pizza sauce and oregano.
  6. Divide evenly and top each of the 12 muffins.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, or until hot and cheese is melted.

  • 1 lb colby cheese
  • 1 14 ounce jar pizza sauce
  • 8 hamburger buns, split open

How to cook:
  1. Cut the bologna, cheese, and pepperoni in two inch blocks. Place in a meat grinder, alternating ingredients as they pass through the blades.

  3. Place 1/3 cup of pizza mixture mounded on top of open face buns and place each one on a baking sheet.
  4. With the rack placed in the top third of your oven, broil until the mixture heats and begins to bubble.
  5. Remove and serve warm.
