Ingredients:
  • 300 g cooked beans
  • 4 ½ cups (1 liter) chicken broth (or water)
  • 4 leeks
  • 1 cup (237ml) white wine
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 4 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon saffron
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: Spanish chorizo

How to cook:
  1. Remove the leaves and the roots of the leek. Chop it into small pieces, any shape and size of your choice.
  2. Then chop and peel garlic cloves. Sauté them in a saucepan at medium heat for olive oil for 1 to 2 minutes. Before they get any color, add leek, salt, and pepper, turn the heat to a low temperature.
  3. Cook the leek until they get a soft texture, but prevent them from getting any color (you can add a couple of teaspoons of water if necessary).
  4. Transfer the vegetables from the saucepan into a large pot. Add wine and cook until the alcohol evaporates.
  5. After that add chicken broth, cook for 20 minutes on medium heat.
  6. Add saffron, turmeric, and paprika, mix until dissolved, and cook for 5 minutes. Then add the cooked white beans and chopped parsley, give it a final mix and serve warm.

Ingredients:
  • 1 package chorizo sausage, 9-10 ounce package
  • 3 red potatoes, washed and diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans garbanzo beans, 15.5 ounce cans
  • 4 cups chicken stock
  • 1/4 cup Goya recaito
  • 1 envelope Goya sazon with saffron
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
How to cook:

  2. Heat a large pot on the stove and add enough olive oil to lightly coat the bottom of the pot.

  4. Add the chorizo sausage and sauté until fully cooked.

  6. Add the diced red potatoes, onion and minced garlic to the pot with the chorizo. Sauté everything together for about 3-5 minutes or until the onion is very fragrant.

  8. Add the garbanzo beans (liquid too), chicken stock, Goya recaito and the Goya salon with saffron.

  10. Stir everything together, bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and simmer for 5 minutes.

Ingredients:
  • 3 cans garbanzo beans (chickpeas), undrained
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 3-4 medium white potatoes, peeled and chopped into 1" cubes
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 carton chicken broth
  • 1 quart cold water
  • 1 meaty hambone
  • 2 smoked chorizo sausages
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 packages Sazon saffron seasoning
  • instant mashed potatoes to thicken (optional)
How to cook:
  1. Mix all ingredients in a large soup pot or Dutch oven and bring to a boil.
  2. Simmer, covered for 1-2 hours.
  3. Before serving, remove hambone and cut any remaining meat off and add to soup. Discard bone.
  4. If desired, add one cup of instant mashed potatoes to thicken the broth.

Ingredients:
  • 4 large cans Progresso garbanzo beans (I like this brand the best, because the beans are round and full).
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • smoked sausage, sliced or cubed, or polish kielbasa, or ham pieces if you prefer
  • olive oil
  • THE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT 2 packages of GOYA brand SAZON con azafran seasoning. A seasoning, it is used in many spanish dishes. It is also used to make yellow rice. This brand is the best.
  • this recipe traditionally calls for chorizo (a spanish sausage, but can be replaced with any of the above meats if preferred.
How to cook:
  1. In a large pot add enough olive oil to easily sauté the onions and potatoes. Add the sliced sausage (or ham) and mix it in with the simmering ingredients. While they sauté open your cans of garbanzo beans and empty them in the pot along with all of their juices. Take each empty can and fill it to the top with water. Ex: if you used 4 cans of garbanzo empty 4 cans of water into the pot. This soup can be made with more or less water, I like it a little more watery but have seen it served very thick.
  2. Secret Ingredient! Add the two packets of seasoning. Your soup color will immediately turn golden yellow. Put your top on the pot and let the soup boil for at least 2 minutes. Reduce heat and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes. Keep checking it and stirring it periodically. Once the potatoes have cooked, your soup is done.
