Competition Makes Us Come Alive
Hello, my name is Lucas Stein. There are few things that make me feel more alive than a good competition. There is something exciting about constantly improving and learning about a particular sport. I have tried almost every sport imaginable, but the sport that I still feel the most passionate about is tennis. So, when I suffered an injury that prevented me from continuing to play, I originally set out to create a blog that allowed me to continue to talk about and learn about tennis. Over time, I have branched out into various other sports and into topics related to recreation in general.

Dealing with Difficult Feelings
Hello, my name is Gary and this is my counselling blog. When I was a boy, my dad was very strict with me. Whenever I got upset, he would tell me not to worry and to keep a stiff upper lip. Any expression of emotion was frowned upon within the household. As a result of this, I never really learnt the skills I needed to properly deal with my emotions. As I got older, I started to drink more and more in order to deal with my feelings of sadness and rage. My friend became worried about me and suggested that I visit a counsellor. It was one the best things I ever did. Talking with someone I trust has really helped me to open up and explore my feelings.
Choosing To Exercise Harder
After I started focusing on honing my workouts, I realized that there were a few things that I wasn't doing correctly. For starters, I wasn't working out hard enough to make a big difference with my body, and second, I didn't feel like I was learning new things at the gym. I began working with a personal trainer to overcome these challenges, and it really made a big difference in my weight and body shape. Within about 6 months, I had lost twenty pounds and my body changed dramatically. Check out this blog to learn how to work out more effectively than ever before.

I think and write about software and algorithms. I also like to talk about books sometimes. If this is your first time here, maybe you would like to dive straight in and read about an algorithm to solve regex crosswords. Or if you like books, check out my controversial-on-hacker-news post 3 Rules for Choosing Nonfiction Books. When not writing this blog I work as staff software engineer at Fastly. You may also know about the open source project I co-founded, Go Report Card.

I am an artist working in Toronto, Canada. Often I work from life. I like to study the world and learn specifically about the details of things, places, people. I feel that nailing the aspects of colour and value, exploring relationships between one thing and another can give me a true and specific understanding. And when the understanding is deep and elemental, it can lead to a wonderful painting. Often, though, I explore more conceptual ideas or social issues, and then I use all the tricks of the trade, from photography to photoshop, collage and paper, everything I can to make a painting that has an impact.

Staying Healthy from the Inside Out
Thanks for visiting my health blog! My name's Caroline. A few years ago, I started to notice changes in my appearance. My hair was dull, my eyes were circled with dark rings, and my skin was looking like it used to when I was a teenager. When cosmetic treatments didn't fix things, I realised the problem wasn't on the outside of my body—it was on the inside! That's when I started researching how to keep myself healthy. To my surprise, improving my internal health really worked. A few years down the line, I feel and look better than ever, and I'm ready to share what I've learned with all of you.
