Burns-Belfry Museum & Multicultural Center, Dedicated to African American History
Burns-Belfry.com is a website dedicated to a restored 1910 African American church, including the history of the African American Methodist congregation that founded the church in 1868 and built the first frame church building soon after. The first was replaced by a brick structure in 1910. Restoration of the building by a nonprofit preservation organization, the Oxford-Lafayette County Heritage Foundation, is being completed in 2013, and its renovation will allow its use as a meeting center for the Oxford-area community. Later it will also house a museum exhibit on African American history.
